Project Manager

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Benning Construction is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee and execute multiple commercial construction projects, ranging from one to four at a time, depending on size, complexity, and location. The Project Manager will take full ownership of all project phases—from pre-construction through closeout—either independently or with support from junior team members such as Junior Project Managers, Estimators, and Project Coordinators.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Manage all aspects of assigned projects, including estimating, quantity takeoffs, scheduling, purchasing, and subcontractor coordination
  • Lead project planning and execution, ensuring quality, safety, and budget compliance
  • Review and manage shop drawings, submittals, and construction documentation
  • Oversee job site operations, inspections, and ensure adherence to project requirements and safety standards
  • Maintain professional and collaborative relationships with owners, designers, and internal teams
  • Drive project closeout processes, including punch lists and final documentation
  • Mentor and develop junior team members for future leadership roles
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for business growth in alternative markets

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial construction, particularly in Benning’s core markets (grocery, retail, cinema, fitness, healthcare, and self-storage)
  • In-depth knowledge of ground-up commercial construction from inception to completion
  • Ability to travel as needed to job sites throughout the Southeast (AL, GA, FL, NC, SC, TN, VA)
  • Strong skills in developing construction schedules with critical paths and milestones
  • Expertise in budgeting, cost control, and understanding the financial impacts of project decisions
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously
  • Excellent decision-making and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
  • Strategic thinker with a record of expanding business opportunities
  • High proficiency with project management software and digital tools
