Senior Estimator
Job Type: Full-time
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Sr. Estimator typical responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Review and understand all project plans, requirements and specifications
- Prepare detailed take offs of materials required for construction and take offs for unit cost subcontractor items
- Determine labor and equipment costs
- Review and understand all bid documents and assess project risks
- Understand project logistics and project schedule
- Prepare bid packages and compare and analyze competitive subcontractor and supplier bids
- Review quotes and estimates with preconstruction and project teams and prepare recommendations
- Reconcile quantity surveys with consultants and design team
- Identify escalation factors in marketplace for specific materials and labor rates
- Work with Preconstruction Team to review and analyze request for proposal information including drawings and specifications, instructions to bidders and the general terms and conditions of the contract
- Additional tasks requested by preconstruction and project management teams

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to estimate all types of commercial building projects including retail, education, healthcare, office buildings, grocery, theater, interiors, etc. with a contract value over $10M
- Ability to create a cost estimate broken down into man-hour/crew labor, material, and equipment for Civil, Structural, and Architectural systems and components
- Knowledge of suitable contractors and suppliers for all types of projects
- Experience with ProContractor and Blue Beam estimating software and on-screen take-off software programs
- Proficiency with computer programs (Microsoft Office Suite, Estimating software, etc.)
- Degree in construction related field (Construction Management, Civil Engineering, etc.) or commensurate experience
- Field experience (2 – 5 years)
- Take off experience (2 – 5 years), especially with site related items, earthwork, concrete, masonry, rough carpentry and other count items
- Attention to detail
